I’m originally from Buin, Chile. I moved to the United States when I was 6, and I’ve been growing up in Miami ever since. I’m pursuing a major in psychology, along with a business administration minor. Outside of school, I love to draw and make art!
At TSF, I learned how to hone my communication skills in a professional setting. Speaking to higher-ups from different companies day-to-day allowed me to practice the formalities of business. This was something I was afraid of approaching when I first decided to pursue HR. Now, thanks to TSF, I feel more comfortable working in a professional environment and I feel like I will be prepared in this regard when beginning my internship at Citi.
The leadership at TSF was extremely helpful when it came to the process of applying to internships. I received great advice about resumes and interviews that eventually led me to score 2 offers from equally great companies. The TSF team is very cognizant of your desire to grow, and they are more than happy to help lead you to your path to success!
I would say that always handling a job while going to school made me learn how to cope with stress well and develop a greater sense of responsibility, which will prove to be useful when I get into the swing of having a full-time job later on. Likewise, being a club officer has helped me learn how to navigate working in a team, and has made me more adept at keeping up with deadlines, as well as planning and organizing.
My goal career is to be an industrial organizational psychologist, but I would definitely want to be an artist when I retire.
I am proud of making it to the University of Florida and being able to study there. I’m also proud of a scholarship from the National Science Foundation I received back at my community college.
What is the best piece of advice (and from who) you have ever received?
Become the person you wish to be. Do not let negative circumstances dictate who you will become. You are in charge of your fate and you can change it if you want to and are willing to put in the effort. I think I got this advice from a philosophy book.
