Certificate Overview

We learn more by doing. With our certificate, a student spends 95% actually working with real companies. Focusing on repetition, our graduates are better prepared for any sales role.

#1 – Learning (5 hours)

  • Students start by learning the sales process. We begin with best practices on how to research and qualify leads. After, we prepare students to make cold calls. We discuss buyer motivations, asking good questions, and showing the benefits.

#2 – Doing (70 hours)

  • Students enter the “Selling Lab”.  Students start by researching sales channels to generate leads for partners. Then, students make calls to find out information from decision makers. This work build confidence and strengthens communication.

#3 – Coaching (All the Time)

  • Students get one-on-one and group coaching from a Campaign Manager. These sessions offer students time to work on areas for improvement and hone one’s skills.

Requirements

  • Drive to work independent and with a team
  • Open to challenge oneself and fail forward
  • Work a minimum of 6 hours per week over 12 weeks (Split into two 3-hour shifts)
  • Complete 75 hours over the course

Student Testimonials

Junior, English

“Working at The Selling Factory through the TSF Academy was a valuable experience that I highly recommend. It offered a guide introduction into work as a sales associate in a way that encouraged reflection and growth. The team at The Selling Factory created a friendly work environment that encouraged initiative and skill development.”

Junior, Food and Resource Economics

“The Academy has allowed me to build confidence in a professional work development setting as well as solidify my skills in communicating with influential business leaders in the Gainesville community. Not only has this been a safe space in terms of career growth, but it’s allowed me to kindle many friendships with other UF students with the same ambitions as mine!”

Junior, Political Science

“The Selling Factory has been incredible! Every day I was encouraged to get out of my comfort zone and practice how to communicate persuasively and genuinely with local business owners, helping me become a stronger communicator outside the office. It’s challenging and I learned a good deal on being patient and staying persistent. This made the next call I aced all the more satisfying.”
